Evolutis New Zealand sponsored the New Zealand Society for Surgery of the Hand meeting 2023 in Queenstown

August had Evolutis New Zealand attending and sponsoring the 2023 NZOA Society for Surgery of the Hand held in Queenstown.

We were able to show off a new product for us the HORUS™ a Trapezio-metacarpal prothesis made and developed by Evolutis France.

The HORUS® TMC trapezio-metacarpal design with over 40 years of history & clinical development. A high performing implant with 98.1% 10 year survivorship.

A widely used treatment for thumb arthritis in Europe, now available in New Zealand

The HORUS® TMC  claims direct lineage to the Guepar TMC prosthesis developed in 1982 by a group of specialist hand surgeons led by Professor Jean-Yves Alnot. HORUS® TMC is the direct cementless evolution of the original Guepar cemented implants. A large number of clinical and performance evaluations have been published, demonstrating a very high level of performance, with very few revisions, even less for aseptic loosening, and zero intra-prosthetic dislocations.

The rationale of the prosthesis relies on a strong retentivity between the cup and head combined with a ROM superior to the natural mobility of the TM joint and immediate primary fixation of the trapezium cup obtained by direct screwing of the cup. It also features highly cross-linked vitamin-E polyethylene, an anatomical metacarpal implant with anti-migration collar.

We received positive feedback on both of the products we presented and are excited to see New Zealand surgeons utilizing them in their practices.

Thank you to all those that presented, the organizers and those that dropped into the booth for a chat.

See you at the next meeting.
